BDSAT-1 defunct, BDSAT-2 is still working

On March 8, 2024, the first launched BDSAT-1 disappeared in the upper atmosphere. What was the cause of the extinction?

At present, the maximum solar activity in its 11-year cycle is peaking. This activity causes cubesats to slow down, resulting in them falling faster. The second factor was also that the launch altitude of BDSAT-1 was somewhere around 500 km, which is several tens of km lower than when BDSAT-2 was launched, which had a launch altitude of about 550 km. This difference of a few km is quite significant for the lifetime of the satellite in orbit.
